Eight of Wands (reversed)

61. Inner Truth
1. The Creative
This week we decided to ask a perhaps strange or even silly question: Are there ghosts? Though we have never seen one and don’t really believe in such things in the strict sense — we are mystified by life (the ghost in the machine) and by the activity of matter generally speaking (erosion, evaporation, flows, bubbles, etc., etc.)…
The question of the existence of ghosts is not an insignificant one. If the definition of “ghost” is an apparition of a deceased person or a recurring manifestation of a past event, then this world and the entirety of your cerebral structure is one vast interconnectivity of nebulous, swirling, phantasmagorical spirits — a perseverance of causal powers. Huh? Think of a stone dropped in a pond, the ripples are its ghosts. You, your computer, your parents, cars, roads, memes, genes, all of the stuffs are endless ripplings of causes and effects — sometimes haunting, sometimes light bringing — all an unfolding, recursive, blipping, zipping, stamping moiré of… ghosts.
“But specifically is it possible to directly see or communicate with those past? Like in the movies or whatever…” Yes; 100% — but don’t expect them to sit down to dinner, give you winning lottery numbers or be what you want…
And if you need something even more prosaic, the language you are reading right now is at least 1000 years old and you look like your long dead great, great, great grandmother.
This week we pulled the Eight of Wands reversed. It is not for us to say whether this card is positive or negative, only that there is a delay. It is up to you to think whether you are pausing in a good way — getting your ducks in a row; or misfiring your energies, just blunderbussing a bunch of stuffs hoping something will stick…
Our first hexagram is #61, Inner Truth. “The wind blows over the lake and stirs the surface of the water. Thus visible effects of the invisible manifest themselves.” The inner and outer must be in accordance for productivity to occur (like with an egg or the sympathies between people — student/teacher, teacher/student). Penetration from outer to inner, to promote growth, is The Way. What a magickal process no?! There were two changes this week of which the specific notes are, if you require your inner emotional states to match exactly with those of your significant other, a bad bipolar-like condition will result — also, humble focus should be the goal for both leaders and dependents — this is the only way for dignified progress.
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #1, The Creative. Here is the first hexagram; the supreme statement of the I Ching. What annimates the world is what is right. The only life for superior people is to engage this primordial cause and effect. “…each step attained becomes a preparation for the next. Time is no longer a hindrance but the means of making actual what is potential…”
