Petite Reading
There are two main aspects for each human life: a highly specific primordial structure (formed when young) and the infinite variables these structures have to process and endure. If one doesn’t have, as a main project, the development of a practice to deal with the bias of the structure and the randomness of the variables — life will be difficult. The only way to bring about one of these project/practices is without haste and without rest.

This week we pulled the Temperance card reversed. Here there is an indication that something is unbalanced — no small imbalance either. Perhaps an outgrown goal is performing you. Maybe a primal vulnerability has been fortified by fantasy for too long. Take an earnest but loving look at what involuntarily predisposes you.
Our first hexagram this week is #56, The Wanderer. We are all just “actors out on loan” 😅🙄 in this life — we present the memes and genes and eventually have to exit. And since these performances are both consequential and mystifyingly insubstantial to cognition, we should consider treading lightly — mostly out of kindness and sometimes in self preservation. There were two changes this week, of which the specific notes are: prize “modesty and reserve” as you are a “stranger in a strange land.”
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #46, Pushing Upward. We’ve said this a few times, this hexagram contains our favorite phrase of the I Ching: “without haste and without rest”. The full quote is as beautiful, only longer: “Adapting itself to obstacles and bending around them, wood in the earth grows upward without haste and without rest. Thus too the superior person is devoted in character and never pauses in their progress.”
