Ten of Wands (reversed)

61. Inner Truth
58. The Joyous, Lake
Petite Reading
Two fairly unrelated reductions this week. One: stagnant knowledge is not healthy; when thoughts remain untouched they becomes dry and brittle. Keep knowledge vital and fresh by engaging in constant dialogues with close friends. Two: if you are amidst a big project take time to seriously consider your limits; then distribute tasks or eliminate aspects to remove dangerous drag.

This week we pulled the Ten of Wands reversed. When upright this card speaks to a scenario where one has taken on a lot, nearly too much; but the intimation is that the burden will pay off. When the card is drawn in reverse aspect (as it was this week) it points to a time where a burden has become too much; that one needs to share the load with others, or relinquish part of their undertaking — if not one risks disaster.
Our first hexagram this week, is #61, Inner Truth. This hexagram details how groups of people (communities) bond, as in, what is a strong bond and when does this connection cease. It states: “only when the bond is based on what is right, on steadfastness, will it remain so firm that it triumphs over everything.” As well it intimates that understanding what is right is based on deep “sympathy” and “understanding”. It is not caused by being exclusive or intimate — there must be perseverance/constancy in what is a common good. There were two changes this week so expect variation in plot or mood. The specific note here are: to be humble and straightforward and take firm action when necessary.
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #58, The Joyous, Lake. Here we have something like a description for the maintenance joy. “True joy, rests on firmness and strength within, manifesting itself outwardly as yielding and gentle.” Joy is mere “mirth” it is a continual exchange of knowledge with sincere friends. “Knowledge should be a refreshing and vitalizing force. It becomes so only through stimulating intercourse with congenial friends with whom one holds discussion and practices application of the truths of life.” (Like consult the I Ching weekly with a close companion.)
