Petite Reading
Truth be told we had kind of a specific question in mind this week: how does one accept the challenges of life with grace, that is not to take them personally and continue to persevere (obviously we were/are in a challenged state). A more clear answer could not have been had — there is no solution for such things, only deep engagement. Failure is an essential part of “the game” — really there is no “winning” there is only the struggle to persist in love without end. As well, justice is simply discipline (the kindness of impartiality). And ultimately, the pursuit of personal truth comes before external truth — but external truth should be equally engaged.

This week we pulled the Nine of Wands. This card is to be read as an encouragement to find the grist to keep going. The battering hindrances of life if logged correctly are simply more data for the next time around — a rallying card.
Our first hexagram this week is #21, Biting Through. There were three changes; expect a variance in mood or plot this period. This hexagram is all about the proper dispensation of justice and law; that it, it is only with sympathy and impartially that they meet their proper application (whether toward ourself or our social circle). “It is of moment that the person who makes the decisions is gentle by nature, while they command respect by their conduct in their position.” “The law is strengthened by a just application of penalties.” The notes about the specific changes this period are summed up with the following: we are all naturally inclined toward leniency in dispensing justice, we must make every effort to be true and impartial — it is only by remaining conscious of the dangers growing out of true responsibility that we can avoid making mistakes.
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #1, The Creative. If there is a single majestic, primordial hexagram, this is it. This is hexagram number 1. It states: “when an individual draws this oracle, it means that success will come to them from the primal depths of the universe and that everything depends upon their seeking of happiness and that of others in one way only, that is, by perseverance in what is right.” Those few that this on “learn how best to develop themselves so that their influence may endure. They must make themselves strong in every way, by consciously casting out all that is inferior and degrading. Thus they attain that tirelessness which depends upon consciously limiting the fields of their activity.”
