This week we pulled the Ace of Swords, reversed. When upright the card points to a kind of driving mental power — vigorous intellectuality. When reversed, there is still an indication that inner thoughts are all aglow, but there is a hesitance to release them. It could also be that there is a proliferation of ideas but no defined channel for deploying them. Patient, vigilance during birthing is encouraged.
Our hexagram this week is # 27, Corners of the Mouth (Providing Nourishment). There were no changes, so how we enter the period is relatively how it is exited. This hexagram expounds on two main zones of nourishment. The first, that a person is defined by what parts of themselves they choose to nourish: “those who cultivate the inferior parts of their nature are inferior people. Those who cultivate the superior parts of their nature are superior people.” The second explains that to nourish properly a person has first to be calm: “tranquillity keeps the words that come out of the mouth from exceeding proper measure, and keeps the food that goes into the mouth from exceeding its proper measure.” It also adds, in the second part (quite importantly we think) that it is also necessary to keep things in motion, moving.
