The Lovers

20. Contemplation (View)
39. Obstruction
Petite Reading:
Make the choice to have a deep and lasting relationship with turning personal obstacles into personal strengths; keep a peripheral eye pointed at being the absolute image of this over time.
Complete Reading:
This week we pulled the “Lovers” card. This card indicates that this period may involve a choice, as regards a pairing — linking yourself to someone or something. The relationship is a lasting one, so give due consideration. For those that are solitary and keep to themselves NB: relationships aren’t limited to external personages, institutions or objects. Relations can be completely internal: the voice of a past authority, a tired tendency, a robust talent, the desire for a personal discipline. All that matters is that you let the right one in or let the right one stay (outside or inside).
Our first hexagram, which we partner with our tarot to describe (or further detail) the current situation, is #20, Contemplation (View). “The image of contemplation” — the discussion here is of the influence of people who, because of their deep commitment to the “mysterious and divine laws of life” (shamans, monks, certain philosophers, etc.) exude profundity and subsequently inspire others. The key here is that an atypically deep commitment in a person influences people more than any other type. There were two changes rolled this week (so expect some variation throughout the period). Specifically, the changes suggest that some self contemplation is in order, specifically think about how personal reflection/improvement will effect the world (not just the self).
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #39, Obstruction. This hexagram is a meditation on obstacles; how if approached in a positive spirit, a hindrance can be an opportunity for growth. “The inferior person seeks to put the blame on others, bewailing their fate. The superior person seeks the error within themself, and through this introspection the external obstacle becomes an occasion for inner enrichment and education.”
