This week we pulled the “The Seven of Cups.” This is a beautiful and rather mysterious card — there is no consensus on the meaning of its rich symbols. The Suit of Cups of which this card is part, is used to indicate an emotional element at play — whether that be reason or passion, or somewhere in between. Specifically, The Seven of Cups is a card of vision, but it is inscrutable as to whether the images presented are fantasy or point to fortuitous solidity. For us it is a symbol to bring about pause — if a vision is not clear there is a danger of interpolating it with your own biased desires. Your emotions may not be what they seem this period, so take them with a grain of salt.
Our first hexagram, which we partner with our tarot to describe (or further detail) the current situation, is #45, Gathering Together (Massing). Here the talk is of people gathering (or amassing in general like waters or loads). Multitudes are unwieldy so pains should be taken to unify and prepare; unify by common (and moral) purpose and prepare for things to take an unexpected course. The two changes this period specify a collaboration gone off — but the involuntary expression of one party’s disappointment help to correct and rebuild.
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #20, Contemplation (View). The initial image is of a tower, not of a military sort but a tower of meditation. The tower is a place that is inwardly correcting but simultaneously a symbol of such balance to the world at large. Let a process of personal refinement, tranquility and self control be a symbol for those that depend on, love and revere you (and make it a beacon of fortitude to guide the more errant parts of yourself).
Our extraction: Be careful of seeing what you want to see. Take pains to hold an image of yourself that is true when organizing your situation. This is a confusing process — self management requires strength. Make brave clarity and self control the tower for which you arrange all the parts of yourself around.
