This week we drew the Queen of Wands. The card points to a monarchical, managerial-like energy — not within oneself but outside, a sort of overarching governance. Like “Nature” (writ large). Impersonal, but of the fair-if-you-are-fair type. Think of a queen bee and her drones — “the common good”.
Our first hexagram, which we partner with our tarot to describe (or further detail) the current situation, is #10. As writers of this oracle we prize ourselves on interpreting the information we receive. However, in this case the information feels so relevant and direct as is — we dare not risk embroidery. The following is the direct text of hexagram #10: “The situation is really difficult.  That which is strongest and that which is weakest are close together.  The weak follows behind the strong and worries it. The strong, however, acquiesces and does not hurt the weak, because the contact is in good humor and harmless. In terms of a human situation, one is handling wild, intractable people.  In such a case one’s purpose will be achieved if one behaves with decorum. Pleasant manners succeed even with irritable people.”
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes 😉) is #54. Much of the wisdom of the I Ching and the tarot is about knowing your place. This has nothing to do with subservience as a sole mode of being. Knowing your place is more like, accepting immediate limitation with the intention to achieve a larger goal (literally you can not do it all). Hexagram #10 relates to a new person entering into an established order. As advice to this it is said: relationships based on personal inclination (as opposed to a relationship based on no choice at all) depend in the long run entirely on tactful reserve.
To us this is a fairly intense oracle. Ultimately what we are taking away, is something like getting ourselves to focus on a larger good, and not get caught up for too long in the swamps of minutia — these lands of distraction are endless. Remember, you can’t do it all and if you have to take the long way around to avoid getting mired (to achieve your goal) do it.
