The World (reversed)

55. Abundance (Fullness)
30. The Clinging, Fire
These first few lines are the general aphoristic returns for the week. They are raw and uninterpreted; there to use how you’d like. (The specific readings follow.)
From “F.B.I.”: Are ghosts real?
A mutual definition of “ghost” would, of course, be needed to establish a proper reply. Is a “ghost” the image of a living person after death? Is it an encounter with something simply outside of our philosophies, that somehow fits the bill of specter or apparition? We think we understand what you mean — we proceed combining the former and latter.
Human perception of the world/cosmos is the opposite of completeness.
As well, in large part, we organize/navigate our perception of the live/present world by stored patterns of past experience. Memory haunts our experience. Living time is cursed and coerced by dead time. This is also true for collective perceptions — institutions, religions, governments, scientific theories, all manner of small and large co-dependencies — all are similarly stained by their desires (the past wanting to organize what is really unorganizable).
Consciousness is truly impure and specific — the world is otherwise to our experience. We are inseparable from our illusions.
Perhaps the question is better answered by altering the original question. Rather than asking “are ghosts real?” perhaps it should be “are definitions (language) real?” Like is a “human” really a “human”? Isn’t a “human” many things from different angles(?): a collection of particles held together by far flung forces, a spearhead of a particular animal strain, a near zombie node in a network that mindlessly espouses presuppositional semiologies and systems, a hairless ape, etc., etc.. To the questions “are ghosts real?” and “are definitions (language) real?” the answer would, be both yes and no and points to the heart of the matter — try to fight your own arrogance and obstinacy as regards these matters.
Perhaps to see the world with less distortion, less pre-condition, one needs to engage “a person who is inwardly free of sorrow and care” likely not anything like a ghost hunter.
Also, “A luminous thing giving out light must have within itself something that perseveres; otherwise it will in time burn itself out. Everything that gives light is dependent on something to which it clings, in order that it may continue to shine...”

This week we pulled the World card (reversed). When upright, because of its position as the last card of the major arcana, it is attributed with qualities of finalization and/or fulfillment. Since it is round in structure, a reversal is not the end; there is movement here. The energy is rolling and unfolding — unfinished, evolving — a reminder that ends are beginnings. There is no positive or negative attributes here, if anything the feeling is a kind of neutralization, or neuter case.
Our first hexagram this week is #55, Abundance (Fullness). “To bring about a time of abundance, a union of clarity with energetic movement is needed.” However periods of plenty are not permanent; the experienced know this. A further complication — this type of seasoned awareness can limit the yield of a favorable time, as knowledge, though it brings insight and acuity, it also can bring trepidation and worry. So, “a person who is inwardly free of sorrow and care” is the best to lead in a time of bounty.
There was one change this week of which the specific note is: arrogance and obstinacy bring the opposite of what is desired.
Our second hexagram, the one that suggests how best to meet the challenges (or the changes) is #30, The Clinging, Fire. There are a couple of analogues at play here, a candle flame and darkness and a candle flame and fuel. Interdependence is the key; this is a metaphor for the first and second hexagrams, The Creative and The Receptive. Since extended illumination is what is wanted in life, fuel and flame must be partners. “A luminous thing giving out light must have within itself something that perseveres; otherwise it will in time burn itself out. Everything that gives light is dependent on something to which it clings, in order that it may continue to shine... Human life on earth is conditioned and unfree, and when a person recognizes this limitation and makes themself dependent upon the harmonious and beneficent forces of the cosmos, they achieve success.”
- “Clarity within, movement without.”
- Arrogance and obstinacy bring the opposite of what is desired.
- Independence is a dream or illusion — all things are contingent and causal.
