We went out into the unpeopled desert again. We had to crunch across the edge lands of desperate ATV tracks and the hangover fields of broken glass — but before long we were surrounded by solitude and sensuality. We are neither botanists nor surveyors, but seems are aspirants to a sort-of connoisseurship of voluptuous nonhumanness. There is little more stimulating than coming upon a drone of bees in a plant of baroque swelling, or contemplating an ancient and comic spillage of black rocks or from a high perch seeing a beige dust devil swirling against mauve mountains. Oh and we haven’t even mentioned the complex interior psychological thoughts that are birthed here… If one wonders what state we’re in — this time, just a little cannabis and a little free time.
