Sleep opens an inn for phantoms

It is said that form follows function but really form is indivisible from function. The same is true for layout and content. Just take a look at Manuel Dilone’s super tight arrangement — his work is inseparable from the display in the most straight-forward way. It is not a little satisfying to see Cargo’s tools used so solidly. 🖖

Choices incidental, uncalculated and correct

Gaston Bachelard said: “The repose of sleep refreshes only the body. It rarely sets the soul at rest. The repose of the night does not belong to us. It is not the possession of our being. Sleep opens within us an inn for phantoms. In the morning we must sweep out the shadows.” It seems to us that Pierre Huyghe’s sculpture/installation Zoodram 5 (after 'Sleeping Muse' by Constantin Brancusi) is the best approximation of Bachelard’s mystifying notion.
